Fishing was really good in the Homosassa River last Saturday for me and my party of 3 from Sysco Foods of Central Florida. We must have caught 40 black drum, a few sheepshead, one redfish and one nice trout.
Conditions for going offshore were rough. The Bay had white caps and 3-foot waves, so we fished a few holes using shrimp for bait.
The Salt Water Workshop for this Saturday was canceled due to a combination of difficulties. For one thing, my computer has been really screwing up (me). The virus thing got me, and then I had my techie fix that. Then I had to run Quick Restore, and you know what happens then… You lose all your data. I had some things backed up. Anyway, all this time working on my computer has taken away from my preparations for the class.
The February date is still on (see my last report for details) and I plan on scheduling a Saturday morning class, perhaps in March.
In case you have not noticed, my webmaster and I are sprucing up the site a bit, and the newest addition is the weather center for Homosassa Bay located on the Home Page (look for the "Marker 26" picture at the top of the page). This is an awesome site if you want to know about the wind speed and directions, etc.
Get your gear ready because in another month or two the fishing is going to be awesome!
