Spring is finally here. Homosassa's fishing action has improved dramatically. Finally, enough water has come in with the last new moon phase for redfish action. The west winds also help to push in more water and baitfish.

The flats are alive with thousands of little pinfish, which is a good bait for both redfish and sea trout.

Pat Burchard and her daughter Sue and husband John caught their limit of one redfish each during a recent outing with me. Live shrimp was used for bait.

The sheepshead action is still good and plenty have been brought into the docks of MacRae's in Homosassa.

Grouper action has picked up offshore in 50 feet of water and closer in. However, the shallow water fishery has not turned on yet. Water temperature is around 67 degrees off shore and that is still a little chilly.
