| As Hank Williams, Jr. sings all my old rowdy friends are coming over tonight, some of my old buddies are leaving the entire country for Costa Rica looking for warmer weather and hungry fish. |  |

I remain here maintaining my small fleet of boats. I have three now and my duck boat, a 14 foot aluminum Monark with a 16 H.P. Go-Devil engine has been receiving some tender loving care. A paint job was in order and when I paint, I like to do it right. So this has been a week long project or two as the rain delayed the process. |  |

Duck hunting was good here this past year and I enjoyed some good hunts. Also, deer hunting was productive and I have been enjoying some good meals from 4 deer that my son, John and I bagged. My son’s 8-point was the best of course as he bested his old man’s 7 pointer. Look out for next year as I attempt to find a 10 point deer. |  |

Fishing has not been the thing to do lately although I have several charters this month on the books beginning tomorrow. Today was a nice day and sunny. Tonight the winds have sprung up to 15-20 mph out of the northeast. |  |

Tomorrow before I go fishing, I have an appointment with the Meadow Crest Fishing Club and later this month I have a three hour seminar that is fully booked. These have helped to keep me busy as the slow winter months drag by. |  |

My nephew, Jared Williams, has built a new lodge for the hunting preserve, Six Mile Preserve located six miles south of Chiefland on US 19. I joined forces with him and brought up my sprayer and compressor and painted one of the hunting jeeps. |

After a while, I earned an invitation to bring up my son John for a tower released pheasant shoot. It was a very enjoyable time and with 20 shooters, we bagged 160 pheasants. Folks say it is no sport to shoot birds this way, but I will tell you it is great sport and a whole lot closer than Nebraska. |

The quail hunting there is superb. They have 25-30 bird dog pointers and the jeeps are really set up great with high seats above the dog boxes as well as seats in front of the grill. |

With 2500 acres to roam, there are also plenty of hog and turkey with guided hunts available. Just give me a shout if you want more information. |

Well, my old buddies went on to Crocodile Bay Lodge without inviting me. That is ok because I am doing my own trip with a new friend for trophy largemouth bass in Old Mexico. I will let you know how I did when I get back. |

I will be doing some pheasant and quail hunting along with tying up some leaders for tarpon season for the rest of the month. Don’t look for a regular report here until March rolls around. |
