| Fishing in Homosassa, Florida has been excellent the past few days. Guide business has been slow for the most part due to the Hurricanes and the threat thereof. As I write the power is flickering and Jeanne is near us. |

Gordon Smith of Atlanta had two days of awesome action with me last Friday and Saturday also, Capt. Charlie Harris. Smith saw more reds with his eye than ever. Smith caught his first redfish on the fly with me and boated many more the second day as Harris guided Smith and I to non stop action for over 90 minutes. Smith put it on me, but truthfully the deck was stacked against me as Harris had him cast in the best spot. It was fun fishing with a good buddy I have known since before he run down the side of his Daddy's leg.(A Harris expression)I even caught a few on the fly. The choice pattern is sort of a secret except I will tell you that it is brown and was weighted. |
I believe the redfish would have any pattern as many fish were striking the fly line itself as we cast and stripped in the water. It was an incredible two days for Smith of the Atlanta-Homosassa Fishing Club. |
The past two days were awesome fishing with the barometer dropping due to the approach of Jeanne as both spotted sea trout and redfish were pounding the spoons, jigs, shrimp and pinfish. |
Sunday was good too as I fished a half day with don and Nancy, a favor to Harris. |
Had a party today but basically MacRae’s was open this morning as my son John and I went for a cooler of ice. No one is fishing today but tomorrow I am scheduled to go if the wind lays down enough to go. |

Yesterday, Billy Buck and Cash (both nicknames) had a big time. I am not sure they appreciated that my advisor/ and Christian counselor was following me in another boat with long time client William Norris Brown of Plant City. They caught the first 8 reds while we were catching trout. Finally we tied of their boat literally and landed three keepers in short order and resumed trout fishing. |
The keeper trout were not turned on for us, but David Robbins and family was being guided by one of the best trout guides, Marvin Williams. They caught 20 keepers and
8 reds in the slot. Cash and Billy Buck and I resumed red fishing and the biggest of their trip was brought to the boat by Trulock with a corn cob shrimp attached to a 1/8 ounce Cotee jig head. |
Anne and Bill Tribble had a large time reeling in 22 redfish on Monday, 11 in the slot and perhaps as many trout with six being keepers. Capt. Gary Cox guided a party on Monday and Tuesday to 38 redfish all catch and release and all on spoons. Dennis DeLoach of Largo and James Roger of Tennessee and Rev. Roy Price of Largo, FL. really thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The second day, Tuesday just Rogers and Dennis went with Gary and hammered the reds again losing count at 22. |

Well folks that’s about it, sorry for the grammar errors and as I write this fast with the lights flickering and no back up power. We may ride it out here at the house or haul tater somewhere to get away from the eye’s path. 70 mph is too much wind not to evacuate but I feel safer in my home as we are in a depression with high trees about. |
God thank you for your world even though sometimes we experience difficult times. Bless those who are hurting from the wilds of the all the storms you send our way whether in the mind or in the world. |
Stay Safe and Be Good. |
